LRC (Learning Resource Centre)
The Learning Resource Centre plays a central role in nurturing a love for reading, learning, and creativity.
From fiction and non-fiction to reference materials, our LRC has it all. Whether you're a budding writer, a science enthusiast, or a history buff, the LRC provides access to materials that cater to your interests and academic needs.
In addition to individual reading time, the LRC offers plenty of space for group work and study. With cozy corners for reading and tables designed for collaborative projects and 12 PCs on the mezzanine level, students have everything they need to succeed in both solo and group assignments. It’s the perfect spot to brainstorm ideas, work on school projects, or just relax with a good book.
Our KS3 students have an English lesson in the LRC every fortnight where they gather in groups to read a variety of books and extracts and then discuss the literature in depth. This promotes their critical thinking, discussions skills and comprehension.
Our librarian and library volunteers are always available to guide students to the perfect resource and to assist with using our library system.
The LRC is much more than just a collection of books. It is a safe and vibrant space that supports learning, creativity, and personal growth.
As well as the LRC we have launched our new ICHS Sixth Form Mobile Library, which is situated in our independent study area. With a brand-new collection of books, the library is a one-stop hub for all things academic and inspiring. From cutting-edge textbooks to exciting new fiction, there’s something to spark interest and support study. Whether they are exploring new topics or seeking the latest research, the library gives them quick access to a treasure trove of knowledge.
Accessit is our online library system and is designed to be as intuitive and engaging as possible. Students can reserve books, read and write book reviews, view citations, and much more. They can create, save and share lists, encouraging book recommendations and keeping book dialogue alive in the classroom and at home. Each borrower also has their own unique dashboard, where they can view and manage their loans, reserves and overdues, and add their own interests.
We regularly update our Accessit dashboard with recommended reads for each year group as well as recommendations for subjects and awareness days. Please be our guest and visit https://uk.accessit.online/ilf00/#!dashboard and take a look at the most up to date information.
